2011 Hairstyle Trends - Braid style

Though sleek is chic and will never go out of style, one look you may want to try and perfect this 2011 if your hair is long enough is braids. And if your hair isn’t long enough yet, considering hair extensions may be in your beauty repertoire when you find out how hot this 2011 hairstyle trend really is. Braids have quickly become one of the hottest and sexiest looks making the braided hairstyle trend one of the hottest hair trends in 2010, and this trend is going to be even hotter this 2011. Whether it is a no muss no fuss beachy braid you swing down your side, or a sleek braid you pin back for a sexy night out, you can’t go wrong when you have braids on your side this year. What braided look do you want to carry this year? We’ll show you how!

Hairstyle trends may come and go but there are some looks that just never stop being sexy. Braided hair first made its comeback with Lauren Conrad Hairstyles on The Hills. Whether she had a soft braid tucked behind her ears with her gorgeous blonde waves hanging loose, or whether she plaited it all back for one sleek look, she became a trend setter in her own right no matter what look she had. Braids were also continued on the Spring 2010 runways, making them one of the hottest looks for 2010. For 2011, the braid continued on the catwalk with the hottest designers from Prada to Alexander Wang. And while we know that braids are sexy in their own right, how do you make them 2011 hot?

The two most common braided looks for 2011 hairstyle trends are a long side braid and a fishtail braid. Both of these looks walked down the Missoni Spring 2010 catwalk, and are predicted to appear on the 2011 Fall catwalks as well. The side braid is a Rapunzel style braid that for day is neither sleek nor clean, and is a somewhat messy braid that looks sexy without being too overstyled.

To get the side braid, you want to start with a side part on second day hair. The braid you create will be plaited then on the opposite side of your hair. The bohemian look is what makes this look sexy for day. After you have parted your hair, braid your hair down the opposite side, and secure with an elastic. Not mussy enough? Don’t be afraid to pull out a few strands from sections already braided, gentle is the key here. When you pull out pieces to muss up a look, be soft on the hand to create just enough muss, without looking like you just woke up. You can take this look to night just as sexy, but sleek is the look you want if you are taking a braid into the evening. On washed hair, make the side part and braid when your hair is wet. Finish with hairspray and you will have a gorgeous sexy look that will stay put all night.

The fish tail braid is a look that you can create just as easily as the side braid. Again, make a side part on dry or second day hair. Start braiding on the opposite side of your hair again, but with only two strands instead of three. Cross each strand over the other, like you would with a standard braid, but as you cross each section over, grab a tiny piece from the second strand and pull it all together. Again, you can muss this up a bit when you are finished, or complete this braid on washed and undried hair for a sleek and sexy night time do.

Best Hairspray Techniques 2011

Best Hairspray Techniques 2011

Women just can do away with hairspray. It has become the most vital tool for any hairstyle. One of the main reasons is that it is due to the fact the hairspray can hold many types of hairstyles in place. Hairsprays used to be very harsh for the hair. It may cause dryness and flakiness in the scalp area. In addition to all of these, hairsprays have the notoriety of having clogging formulas that it was sometimes difficult to spray it. But now, it is more hair-friendly and it comes in many varieties from soft hold to tough. Use specific hairspray for your specific needs, like a volumizing spray when you need to volumize your hair.

Since holds have been mentioned, strong hold is used for hairstyles that may require for a all-day hold such as up-dos, for example, those used for the wedding. Medium hold is used for a structured style but not as strong as that during a wedding. On the other hand, low hold is used when straight hairstyles are used. They have nothing but to have hold in them.

If you want a naturally looking style without the clumps some ahirspray may have, instead of spraying directly onto the hair, spray it on the bristles of the brush, then brush into the hair. Mist the hair with a little bit of hairspray to keep the style in hold.
When you want to keep the strays at bay, after spraying the hair, run you palms over the hair to keep it in place. Avoid having sticky hair by not overdoing it. Over use of the product makes the hair sticky. Having too stiff a hair or clumping, do not apply hair spray right after you have mist your hair with the spray. Wait for a few seconds so the formula has dried or absorbed by the shaft.

The Art of Hair Layering

Layer adds grace and elegance to any hair length- short, medium or long. It not only enhance the texture and volume of the hair it also has a softening effect on the contours of the face. If you are contemplating having a new hairstyle, why don’t you consider having it layered and discover how it can add a new dimension to your hair and looks as well as transform an otherwise boring hair to an interesting and exciting head of hair. But before rushing to your hairdresser you should learn first some facts about hair layering.

Layers look best on wavy or straight long hair. Stylists just love to layer this type of hair. Give your stylist a free hand and they will surely do themselves proud. Most stylists will layer the top part of the hair with short layers that gradually increase in length as they progress downwards. If your hair is naturally wavy or curly, this style of layering will help heighten the waves of your hair giving it a fuller body as they cascade down. The advantage of this hairstyle, aside from giving you that very femininely flirtatious look, is its easy styling and maintenance. Now if your hair is long and straight, this style of layering will give fullness and volume to your hair. When side layered hair is comb to frame the face, its effect is the softening of the contours of the face. This layered hairstyle is great for camouflaging a strong square jaw.
When thin or flat hair is layered properly, the hair will acquire added volume and body. Layering is not right for very curly hair since with layering, the curls will be inclined to tighten more. But giving the curly hair longer and fewer layers that tapers towards the bottom of the hair will do wonders for very curly hair

2011 Hairstyle : Professional in the Office

Let’s face it—keeping it professional in the office is a really big deal, even when it comes to hair. So the question is—what kind of hairstyles help you to look cute and sophisticated at the exact same time?

Well, for one, the french braid definitely fits the bill. This is a braid that interconnects several pieces of hair together. It may not seem like much at first, but what you may not realize is that when you put your hair up in this hairstyles, you not only pull your hair back, but you also give yourself a very professional air. Maybe it’s because it’s normally a very tight braid or perhaps because of the amount of time (which is a few minutes longer than most hairstyles) that it takes in order to perfect the hairstyle.
Next is the regular old bun. However, a scraggly scrunchie isn’t likely to help your professional image. Your best bet is to pull out your good old bobby pins and put them in for a spin—quite literally. Using bobby pins makes your bun not only immaculately neat, but also makes it look very very chic. You can pair it with a thin headband to add a little bit of pizzazz to the hairstyle.

Last is your good old ponytail. You can’t go wrong with a pony! This is a very simple hairstyle that almost anyone can pull off and also helps you to stay sleek and clean cut during office hours. Plus, it’s really, really easy to fix a ponytail. No hairbrush required!

2011 hairstyle : Blunt Cut

Cutting your bangs can be a bit of a money saver. However, it can also be a problem causer as well. So how exactly do you go about getting the bangs that you want for cheaper?
Hairstyle with Bangs

First of all, make sure that you have a few pictures of girls with their hair/bangs cut the way that you want. Don’t hesitate to look up a few tips for cutting your own hair as well. Make sure that you have a general concept. Two, get a steady-handed buddy. If you know that you have a friend who is an at home stylist (whether professionally so or otherwise), see if they will give you a hand with your hair. If you don’t, try to do so by yourself. Make sure that you have haircutting scissors, a wide tooth comb, a fine tooth comb, and that you have a good mirror.

Before you start cutting, get all of the hair that you want cut and naturally goes where your bangs do ready. If your hair is naturally curly, you may not want to opt for this style unless you plan on straightening it on a regular basis. Do not wet your bangs—they will look completely different when straight and there may be as much as an inch’s difference from what is cut and what you wanted. Keep it dry so that you can see what you’re doing and how long it will be.
Bangs are In!!

If you have any haircutting ribbon or scotch tape, use that as a marker and cut along it. Once you have gotten your blunt cut bangs to a satisfactory length (or lack thereof), then check for stray hairs and make sure they are trimmed accordingly.

Celebrity Hairstyle : Cameron Diaz Hairstyle

This page has photos of Cameron Diaz hairstyles. Hairstyle.com shows you how to copy Cameron's hairstyles, so you can look like Cameron Diaz, famous from movies Charlies Angels and There's Something About Mary and more recently What Happens In Vegas.
After working as a model, Cameron Diaz appeared in the 1994 movie, The Mask with Jim Carrey and from there her movie career took off.
Whether its the cute bob from There's Something About Mary, or the long locks from Charlies Angels, Cameron Diaz has that sexy surfer girl look.

This blonde beauty is famous for simple, yet classic hair styles and hair cuts. Cameron Diaz is often spotted on the red carpet with her haired tied in a messy styled ponytail, with a few strands of hair hanging loosely around her face.
Although Cameron sometimes wears her hair parted on the side with side swept bangs, perhaps her most famous look is slicked back hair. A very suitable style for those with oval faces.

Look after your Cameron Diaz inspired blonde hair:
If you have highlighted blonde hair like Cameron Diaz and spend alot of time out in the sun like she does (remember when she broke her nose surfing?), then your hair may be dry and prone to fly-a-ways and frizz.
Hot temperatues speed up hair color fading and dry your hair. Always start by wetting your hair with lukewarm water to protect your bleached hair.
Use moisturizing products, such as moisturizing shampoos and products designed especially for colored hair.
If your hair is extra dry, dilute your shampoo for extra gentleness. To dilute shampoo, mix 1 part with 8-10 parts warm water. Shake until suds form. Pour these suds over your hair and pat, rather than rubbing into a lather.

Use a good anti-frizz serum, such as John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum which smoothes texture and adds great shine to frizzy, dry hair. This product also have UV filters to protect your hair against the damaging effects of UV rays.

Celebrity Hairstyle : Lindsay Lohan Hairstyle

This page has photos of Lindsay Lohan hairstyles. Hairstyle.com shows you how to copy Lindsay's hairstyles, so you can look like Lindsay Lohan, star of 'Mean Girls' and 'Herbie: Fully Loaded'.
Lindsay Lohan, the teen starlet who brought red hair back to the forefront of fashion has changed her hair color so many times over the past few years, we're not even sure what color she is now!.
She went from gorgeous natural red hair to platinum blond, to dark brunette, back to flame red, to coppery red, back to blonde.... phew!
Of course Lindsay Lohan is lucky enough to have only the best hair stylists to satisfy her chameleon-like hair changes, but if you too are wanting a drastic hair color change, here are some tips to ensure your hair stays in the very best condition.

Going from brown to blonde:

If you want to lighten your hair more than 3 shades below your natural color, you are going to have to use bleach. Bleaching your hair is hydrogen peroxide removing some or most of the natural pigment in your hair. This is step one of the 'double process'. The second step is toning.
Bleaching is permanent and is damaging to your hair. You will need to have your roots touched up every 6-8 weeks to maintain the color. Only apply bleach to the roots you want to lighten - if you apply more bleach on already lightened hair you will damage and dry out your hair.
If you decide to go blonde, do a deep-conditioning treatment once a week to reduce damage to the ends of your hair.

Going from blonde to brown:
If you have blonde hair and you want to go dark, you may need a reddish brown. The red tones act as a filler - if you dye your hair an ashy brown it may go grayish and flat. The red tones will give your hair great depth.

If you were a very light color to begin with and you don't maintain your regrowth, the light blonde roots can make your hair look thin on top. Touch up your roots every 4-6 weeks.
Brown color tends to fade a little over time and loses that rich hue. Invest in some color-enhancing shampoo and conditioner to keep your color for longer.
If you are not sure if brunette is for you, start off slowly with a few dark lowlights around your face.

Going from brown to red:

When removing the natural pigment of dark hair it goes through several color changes - from black, to brown, to red, to orange, to yellow to white. So if you are wanting to go red from naturally dark brown hair, you will need to bleach your hair using a lower strength bleach.
You may want to brighten your red tones with a red hair rinse or hair dye. If you want to go a vibrant red, you will have to bleach your hair and then use red hair dye on top.
Red tends to fade quite quickly so make sure you use products specifically for dyed hair.

Going from red to blonde:
You will have to bleach your hair to lighten it. If you are wanting to go an ashy blonde, you will need a toner to remove the reds.

Going from blonde to red:
If you hair is blonde and you want to go a vibrant red, then lucky you. Your already lightened hair will go bright red! You will need to keep touching up the color as it will fade fairly quickly. Red hair dye on blonde hair will fade to a pinkish color. Coppery reds will fade to a faded orange color.

Victoria Beckham Hairstyle

The bob has been a classic hairstyle for many years, but when Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham got her hair cut in this style, she completely reinvented it. These days its been nicknamed the "Pob", The Posh Bob.
The Pob takes the timeless bob and gets it a funky, trendy twist - its an angled bob, graduated at the back of the head with long, textured front layers.
What is so great about this style is it suits pretty much all faceshapes and hair types. It can be uniquely tailored to suit any facial features and hair type.
Victoria Beckham herself, has worn a few different varieties of the Pob over the years.
Short, Asymmetrical Pob

Front
The front of the hairstyle shows off asymmetrical lengths and the right side is much longer then the left. The left side part has slight bangs which fall to the right where it blends into a longer length which goes down to chin level, giving the front of the hair length and also a feminine touch. A textured finish adds a piecey look and also a voluminous finish. The front of the hair is foiled with light and golden pieces which gives Victoria a sun kissed look, perfect for her new Hollywood location.

Back
From the back, the style looks totally different then the front. From the back hairline the hair is graduated up with heavily chipped into ends which add a very textured but blending finish. From the crown to the top-back part of the neck the lengths are sliced to carry on a textured and full finish. At the very bottom to the mid back the color of the hair is a dark golden blonde, and from the crown to the mid back, the hair has blonde foils which have a piecey finish on top of the darker blonde.

Right Side
The right side is the feature side where the concaved effect is most prominent. The right sides length flows down with the jaw line, blending from short textured lengths to longer piecey strands at the very front. The right side shows that various blonde shades through the hair gives the hair a natural blonde finish. The longer pieces feature blonder highlights to help frame the longer pieces at the front.

Left Side
The left hand side has the graduating short textured lengths but the front has jaw line graduated length which sits neatly tucked behind the ears, leaving the right side to be the main feature with its longer length. The shorter side looks very natural, with the darker tone from the back showing at the very back sides and following up to lighter tones at the top where the blonde highlights give the hair a sun kissed finish.
